Tips

  • The search engine will not recognize special characters (e.g., ?, !, *, &, etc.).
  • If you search part of a word or phrase, any item containing your search will show in the results.
    • Example: If you search "riv" the results will include digitized material and website content that uses the letters "riv" together (e.g., "Rivoli," "river," "strive," etc.)
  • The search engine does not search the archival materials themselves, only their metadata (i.e., the listed information that is displayed for each digitized source, like the title, author, and description).
  • Keep in mind that the phrases you are searching have to be exact. This means that it's best to keep your search simple by using fewer words.
    • Example: If you search "hotel stoddard" there are zero results. Searching "stoddard hotel" will give you a list of results. If you simply search "stoddard" your list of results will be even longer.
